2014’s Best Summer Movies (Our Picks)

The summer of 2014 is filled with more than enough movies worth going to the theater for. Here is a look of which movies I feel will be the best bang for your buck:

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (May 2)
I honestly feel that this Spider-Man movie may end up becoming the best Spider-Man film since the original ‘Spider-Man 2’. It seems to have it all this time around. It has more energy, better villains and the hype is great. The fate of Emma Stone’s character Gwen Stacy seems to be the big question.

Godzilla (May 16)
The 1998 film was one of the worst movies ever made. This version is getting nothing but rave reviews and looks absolutely insane, especially from a special effects perspective.

X-Men: Days of Future Past (May 23)
What needs to be said that I haven’t already said in my previous post? I strongly feel that this is the biggest movie of the summer.

22 Jump Street (June 13)
Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum return in this sequel to one of the funniest movies of this century. This will be the best comedy released this summer.

Guardians of the Galaxy (August 1)
This could end up being ‘The Avengers’ of this summer. It could also be a hit or miss film. I think it will do great business at the box office.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (August 8)
Everyone, including myself was worried about this film. The trailer has rested our fear and given us confidence that this film may be better than we ever could have expected.

The Expendables 3 (August 15)
This action movie series is keeping the old genre alive. I’m looking forward to Wesley Snipes, Mel Gibson and Harrison Ford joining the all-star cast.

Sin City: A Dame To Kill For (August 22)
The long-awaited sequel was also featured in a previous article of mine. I cannot wait for this. I look forward to comparing it to the original and seeing how it stacks up.

Honorable Mention:
Maleficent (May 30)
Edge of Tomorrow (June 6)
Hercules (July 25)

Avoid At All Costs:
Neighbors (May 9)
Blended (May 23)
Think Like A Man Too (June 20)
Jupiter Ascending (July 18)
Sex Tape (July 25)
