USA Men’s Hockey Defeats Russia behind shootout efforts of T.J. Oshie and Jonathan Quick

What a game! What a game! An even contest with no score after the first period, tied at 1 after the 2nd and tied at 2 at the end of regulation. It was a back and fourth cold blooded USA-Russian battle which brought back the conflict and drama of Lake Placid in 1980 (34 years prior). On enemy Russian territory, in a dramatic eight shot shootout, T.J. Oshie (St. Louis Blues) made a major name for himself scoring 4 shootout goals (Rounds 1, 5, 6 & 8). Jonathan Quick (Los Angeles Kings) tended goal effectively keeping the USA alive with 5 shootout saves, allowing Oshie to clinch the victory.
